Why Pier 9.?.

You might well wonder why this blog is titled 'Pier 9'. I think that titles with a number in them tend to attract more attention then might otherwise be the case. Would 'Catch 22' have gained as much attention if it had been called something else ?.'Pier 9', to me anyway has that certain air of mystery about it redolent of dark deeds on dark nights down at the docks.

In reality, Pier 9 is a disused bar just across the road from where I live in Ayr. I dont know when it closed under that name but I remember years ago it went under the name The Harbour Bar and was well known for having a fine collection of old marine radio equipment. It also had a reputation for being the haunt of ladies of the night. Where they went when the bar closed I do not know and even if I did I would not be telling as this, after all, is not Punternet.

So Pier 9 is a geographical location and the blog that is named after it will carry my observations on life in the period beyond Silvertonia.
